Meet The Maker

My name is Michael Bradshaw, Owner and Bladesmith at Shaw’s Shanks. I am a Marine Combat Veteran of 14 years. After traveling the world during my service, I returned to my birthplace of Lynchburg, VA located in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Since I was a kid, outdoor recreation has always been a passion of mine. From just tromping through the woods with childhood friends to tournament fishing, knives were a common tool. This tool became a absolute necessity once a Marine in combat.  Whether it be fixed or a folding pocketknife, I have always carried a blade. My love of fishing is what inspired my makers mark. 

 My addiction to Bladesmithing began in 2017, like many others, from the popular tv show “Forged in Fire”. I became addicted to any and all knowledge bladesmithing related and tortured my family with countless hours of YouTube videos, Magazines, etc. After making many not so great knives, my skills improved and Shaw’s Shanks was born. Since then, Shaw’s shanks has grown into more than I could ever imagine. Shaw’s Shanks has been featured 0n KnifeMagazine.com as well as won 1st place in Lynchburg’s Consumer voting for best local specialty art services.
